Conditions permitting, board cotton tree’s canopied boat and head down the Moho River and into the Carribean Sea. A short ride south along the coast will bring you to Barranco Village, a unique Garifuna community. Your guide, a village resident, will meet you at the docks and give you an introduction to this Afro-Caribbean culture, providing an overview of Garifuna history, religion, and music while walking you around the town, which still features some original colonial architecture. Step into the local museum, tour a cassava bakery, and take in a performance of drumming and dancing. |
