Santa Ana Tortilla Making Workshop
A short drive to our neighboring village of Santa Anna bring you to a small compound of traditional thatch buildings. Usabia Bo opens her home to you, ushering you across the dirt floor of the kitchen and around her mud stove. Help her shuck dried corn and learn how she boils, washes, and grinds the kernels into dough suitable for shaping into round tortillas. Your guide and Mrs. Bo will take turns explaining the importance of corn to the ancient and modern Maya people, while giving you the opportunity to form and cook your own tortillas.
